{Ed002's Note - Sergio Ramos (CB) PSG wanted a January agreement to take him as a Free Agent in the summer but the player is apparently reluctant to commit just yet. Real Madrid wanted to extend his contract but want to reduce the package he currently gets to help their quest to cut costs - if that gap can somehow be resolved it was the most likely solution but he is intent on stepping away. Interest from both the Far East and the Middle East is not attractive for the player. Milan offer a potential option because of tax advantages in Italy - but they have added Fikayo Tomori at a far lower cost and it is likely the second CB they are looking for will be younger. Ideally a return to Seville to end his career but perhaps a year too early. Italian sides have a financial advantage but Milan enquired PSG may just provide an option but I doubt the main protagonists in the Premier League will be interested in what will be an expensive, starting option - and they have other targets. A real wildcard would be Inter Miami but it makes little or no sense.}

Antoine Griezmann has just come out with news that he's leaving Atletico. Any idea where he's heading to? I'm guessing Barcelona but if I remember correctly, they're having trouble with finances and bloated wages.

Mou to Real? Certainly wouldn't be surprised if Solari doesn't do well and no high profile manager wants to move there (i. e. Allegri or Poch), especially with Perez's tendency to make baffling decisions.

I'm kinda surprised but is Vidal really moving to Barcelona and Modric to Inter? They're both very good players imo but both approaching the twilight of their careers so I'm just not sure whether teams are willing to pay large transfer fees and wages to attain their services.

Just saw that Mandzukic is moving to Juventus for 18 million euros. Any truth in this Eds and does this affect City's transfer plans (I understand they wanted him as a replacement for Dzeko)?

Just wondering what's going on with Daichi Kamada? He seemed like he was going to sign for Milan only for them to pull out, and there doesn't seem to be much news on where he might be headed next.

{Ed002's Note - Daichi Kamada (AM) Interest is growing with his contract running down with Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona keen to take him as a Free Agent. Milan has an agreement with the player although are awaiting a non-EU departure before he can be registered and the signing of SC means he will be offered around - Inter perhaps might be interested. Spurs, Atletico and Sevilla have spoken with his agent. Eintracht Frankfurt will look to a new contract but that seems unlikely. Newcastle are looking at making a significicant signing on fee as an offer to the player. Al-Hilal offer what might be an attractive solution. The player remains keen on waiting on Milan to make space.}

Offered to Chelsea but they have other thoughts and his termination clause and wages if asked in full would kill any chance of a move. Real Madrid interest only works if they will accept multiple players in exchange.}

Just read that Papu Gomez is possibly leaving Atalanta after a falling out with Gasperini. Apparently the cause of it all was that Gasperini had asked him to play on the right wing in the second half of a CL game and Gomez refused, before he was substituted for Ilicic, who allegedly sided with Gomez in this dispute. Is any of that true? It seems absolutely insane that this of all things would have caused a locker room civil war and the imminent departure of a club icon.

Hey ed001,
If you aren't too busy, could you please do an article on Atalanta? I've been watching a few highlights of them during the virus and they look as superb going forward as everyone has been saying. I guess what I'm most interested in are the players they have playing at such a high level. Most of them I remember were hyped up early on, but their careers seemed to have fizzled out slightly one way or another or just never really reached the heights expected of them before landing in Atalanta.

This actually reminds me of the time when Alisson made that incredible save against Napoli to get us through to the CL knockout rounds, and people played it down because the shot was supposedly straight at him, completely ignoring how quick he was on his feet to get himself in the perfect position so that the shot had nowhere to go but at him. In the very same breath, those people raved about an Ederson save against Shakhtar that same week purely because he had to sprawl and dive, which made it look a lot flashier than it needed to be.

Strange Milan has decided to target players with so much baggage. Bonucci and Calhanoglu have signed, and they're also looking at Auba who I understand has so many issues that Dortmund are looking to sell no matter how good he is. Just another question, will they run into financial trouble with so much money spent? Will they be forced to sell like Roma and Inter this summer to balance the books?
