Dear Ed1,

Why on earth have Valencia sacked Marcelino? I thought he was doing a great job getting them back into the CL and also winning them they're first trophy in over a decade!

Or am I missing something here and it turns out I think he's better than he actually is?

Thanks.

Taurus01

{Ed001's Note - Valencia are delusional.}

Well I hope him all the best. I imagine some clubs would be after his signature now.

Thanks for the speedy response Ed!

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome. They are mad in Valencia, they think they are the 3rd biggest club in Spain and should only ever finish behind Real Madrid and Barcelona at worst. Anything less than 3rd is seen as a disgrace.}

2.) 11 Sep 2019 20:50:58
Well they've defiantly stunted their chances of breaking the top 3. Do they not remember how they were mid table before Marcelino?

{Ed001's Note - teams don't think about that, look at Betis sacking Setien because they weren't in the Champions League when he was the reason they had a chance of getting in. Then there is Brighton who sack Hughton because they are struggling against the drop. They all think they are better than they are.}

Sad that it's all about instant success now. The best teams can be built over a long period. I really think keeping a good manager for a while goes a long way rather than constantly hiring and firing.

You only need to look at Watford who will probably eventually hire and fire their way to relegation.

{Ed001's Note - I am amazed Watford have stayed up so long with the mess that is their recruitment.}

Indeed, perhaps Welbeck might been the final nail in the coffin though. well not that he's going to get many minutes given his injury record.

Hi Eds,

Does Jeremy Mathieu's future lie at Barcelona or elsewhere?

Taurus01

{Ed002's Note - Besiktas has an offer on the table and took some time to talk to the club whilst a director was in Spain a couple of weeks ago.}

Thanks for the response Ed002.

Hi Eds,

Will Arda Turan be moving on this summer?

Taurus01

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Hey Eds,

Will any certain Sevilla players be looking to move this summer?

Taurus01

{Ed002's Note - Yes, a number and a number (three or four I can think of have already gone, e.g. Banega, Figueras, J-A Reyes etc.).}

1.) 02 Jul 2016 11:55:06
Thanks Ed

Hi Eds,

Tried the search engine and nothing came up. Any interest in Nolito this summer?

Taurus01

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona approached Celta Vigo about taking Nolito in January - but Nolito said he will not move anywhere just as cover for others and wants a commitment of game time. Leicester, Spurs and Arsenal have had Nolito watched by scouts this season and Arsenal had a tentative approach knocked back but they may still be an option for the summer A Spanish club could force move (if the player agrees) by paying a release clause that he has, but even though he has been playing well recently, Barcelona are the only Spanish club to have shown an interest at this time and are likely to have explained to him that he will have a number of opportunities as changes are coming in the summer. Right now a deal with Barcelona seems to be off the table unless they can move one of their key players on. West Ham may well turn to Nolito as an alternative to Lacazette. Manchester City may look to pad their squad by taking Nolito. Previous interest of Liverpool seems to have gone.}

Hi Ed,

Does Inter Milans pursuit of Daniel Sturridge mean there is potential for them to sell one of their strikers. If this is true, who may be on their way out?

Thanks.

Taurus01

{Ed002's Note - None.}

Ed002,

It seems a bizzare rule that the club which sells cannot replace the player? Is this not a bit unfair or is the issue more complex than it seems? I guess given you can only sign a player from another La Liga club it stops an avalanche of transfers for each team to replace their player they’ve lost.

Thanks.

Taurus01

{Ed002's Note - It is indeed unfair, hence the pressure to change it.}
